Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder

Rob Hoekstra (1961) was born in The Hague and graduated from the Erasmus University with
a specialty “Management of Change”. This post-modern education allows the researcher to
observe the environment from different perspectives.

Based on this approach I observe what the moment has to offer and what will be perceived
by the reflection of light of what will be suppressed by the absence of it.

The recent decades I have specialized myself in architectural photography. During these
photoshoots I was inspired by the shapes, colors and materials used in these beautifully
created buildings. This has completed a portfolio of autonomous work, that is mainly
characterized by texture, color, light and shadow.

By searching for unconventional perspectives, the viewer wonders what the total reality
would be… By isolating a part of the building from its context, it is given it’s own
rightful and beautiful reality.

Where the architect creates a total, the photographer composes a new dimension by
enlightening this one special part. “Less is More”.
